About KoKom
KoKom is a national centre located in Bergen.
The objective of the centre is to act as advisor to government,
both centrally and locally (counties and municipalities) on the
running of dispatch centres in the health care services.
KoKom was established in 1997 by the Ministry of Social
security and Health in Norway. The funding is through the national
budget.
The staff consists of one director (medical doctor), two nurse
consultants, two chief engineers, one information-coordinator (60%)
and one administrative consultant.
In order to meet its objective, the centre needs to be well
informed on developments in the field, and to be in the sphere of
technology or in the various health sciences. This can only be
achieved through active participation in development work in
Norway, and through communication with researchers and service
providers elsewhere.
The following areas of
special projects are to be dealt with by the centre:
- Evaluation of impacts of the proposed Act on Contingencies
in Health and Social security on the emergency dispatch
services of Norway
- Introduction of digital radio communication in health
- Occupational health concerns in the emergency medical
services, with a special emphasis on dispatch systems
- Security of communication systems in emergency care centres
Presentations: (Awailable from KoKom on request).
- Basic Health Telematics Training Seminar, Copenhagen, 12th-17th
